COMPTON POOL FARM WINS GOLD IN NATIONAL TOURISM AWARDS
Self Catering Holiday Provider of the Year 2012

What the customers having been saying for years is finally official – the family-run holiday cottage business has been crowned the best self-catering holiday provider in England.

The Gold Award is the highest Award for Excellence in Tourism in England which VisitEngland can bestow. Compton Pool Farm was presented with their Gold Award at a glittering Awards Ceremony which was held on 22 May 2012 at Athena, an art deco gem located in the heart of Leicester’s cultural quarter.

Commenting on the Award James Berresford, VisitEngland’s Chief Executive said “This year we received a record of 392 applications of extremely high quality. It is a tremendous achievement for Compton Pool Farm to win a Gold award the highest accolade for Excellence in Tourism which VisitEngland can bestow. They have raised the bar for excellence which others can aspire to. I warmly congratulate them".

Despite awards being presented to other highly-acclaimed tourism businesses such as the Bath Priory Hotel and the lifetime achievement award presented to the Duke of Marlborough of Blenheim Palace, the judges singled out Compton Pool Farm for ‘providing personal service to the highest standard and the owners are passionate and committed to their business and the local tourism industry’.
 
Competition in the category was stiff, as the Devon business was up against well-established rivals Belle Grove in Suffolk, who also won a gold award, Eaton Manor in Shropshire and Roundhouse Barn Holidays in Cornwall.

Ann & John are no strangers to awards success, having picked up silver awards twice before on a national level, and winning regional gold awards for their cottages and their innovative website on no fewer than seven occasions.

On receiving the award, Ann said: ‘This really is the icing on the cake and makes the 6 years hard work even more wore worthwhile. Seeing our guests returning year after year gives us enormous pleasure, but being recognised by our industry for what we have achieved is truly special.’
